Today is the final day of the FIND studio in the Linenhall Gallery. If you haven't had a chance to come down and meet the artists yet, pop in for a look around and a chat, before we Exit the building! This Exit sign has kindly been on loan for the exhibition and studio from Mary Fahey-Tighe, and comes from the old building of the Star Picture House Cinema, which artist Joanna Hopkins based her FIND project on. The FIND Temporary Public Artworks are still in situ around Castlebar town for the rest of the weekend.
LAST week of FIND!
The artist talks this Saturday were lots of fun and very informative.. It was great to hear the ins and outs of everyones process. Thanks to Alice Maher for her talk. Gaynor Seville and Marie Farrell for organizing.
The show continues until Saturday April 26th.
Nuala Armstrong, a Caslebar local, visits the FIND studio today. Nuala worked in the County Cinema on Spencer st. for many years, and gave artist Joanna Hopkins many stories from that time. Here she looks with interest at Amanda Rice's research, as Nuala also worked in the Hat Factory over the years, and is giving Amanda stories and information.
come along to see the how, what, who and when....
Artist Alice Maher, who was one of the mentors for the FIND artists, will give the first talk of the afternoon. This will be followed by the artists each giving brief 15 minute talks about their practice, and specifically their project for FIND.
There will be a break in between the talks for tea/coffee and the afternoon will finish with an informal Q&A session in the gallery/studio space, with wine and refreshments.
This is a free event and all are welcome to attend.
Artist’s talks start at 2pm in the Linenhall Arts Centre theatre, Saturday 19th April.
Chris Leach is in the gallery space today, broadcasting LIVE whilst working on one of his miniature drawings. He has restarted a project he abandoned last year, which was to produce a miniature of every capital city in the world. Chris halted the project approx 12 months ago because there were issues of discolouration with the gesso and after research on materials and conservation over the last 12 months he is now using the opportunity of the studio time at the Find Art Project to recommence the works. There are 196 capital cities in the world and each work takes a couple of days, so there will be somewhere around two years work involved. If you click on the link below he is streaming live from the studio so you can see how Kabul in Afghanistan is getting on!
Please note, live broadcast is now over!
The drawing I was working on in the gallery is now complete, more information at
