Chris Leach is in the gallery space today, broadcasting LIVE whilst working on one of his miniature drawings. He has restarted a project he abandoned last year, which was to produce a miniature of every capital city in the world. Chris halted the project approx 12 months ago because there were issues of discolouration with the gesso and after research on materials and conservation over the last 12 months he is now using the opportunity of the studio time at the Find Art Project to recommence the works. There are 196 capital cities in the world and each work takes a couple of days, so there will be somewhere around two years work involved. If you click on the link below he is streaming live from the studio so you can see how Kabul in Afghanistan is getting on!

    FIND ART PROJECT

The theme of FIND is experience of temporary work, and documentation and legacy of temporary work.  Artists were encouraged to consider discreet or ‘hidden’ works that will be ‘unravelled’, or be revealed, via the event tour, and maps – encouraging the audience to search out the work.

The Mayo artists who were selected for the commissions are Ian Wieczorek, Amanda Rice, Chris Leach, Nuala Clarke, Alice Dixon and Joanna Hopkins.
